Pick your classification.
California issues licenses by classification: B General Building or a C-class specialty (C-10 Electrical, C-20 HVAC, C-27 Landscaping, C-36 Plumbing, and so on). You only need one — the one that matches the work you actually want to bid. If you do not know, the CSLB classification list is the source of truth; we list the labels on our Courses page so you can match the trade to its exam.
- B General Building: structures with two or more unrelated trades.
- C-class: single-trade specialties (electrical, plumbing, roofing, solar, etc.).
- Law & Business: required for every classification, on top of the trade exam.
